The main aim and objective of the department is to offer holistic development to this crucial age group. This group is undergoing transitional change of adolescence and thus need of constant guidance and counselling.
The department has majored in Outreach programmes to Deaneries and Archdeaconries.
The objective of the programme was to:
- Nurture Diocese youth Christian maturity.
- Strengthen Youth ministry in various parishes
- Empower youths for leadership of worship in the churches
The strategies being used is to reach out to the youth:
Encourage and support parishes and churches to have youth services.
Enroll young people as members of KAYO through their churches and parishes.
Evangelistic mission done under Bondo Evangelistic Team
Organize open air crusades
Collaborate with school chaplaincy to strengthen Christian Unions in Schools.
Partnering with like-minded organizations to reach the youth
Organizing conferences i.e Diocesan, Regional and Provincial conferences.
SPORTS FOR EVANGELISM
Sports has been used as a tool for evangelism. This has resulted into nurturing talents.
The programme was launched to engage the youths in meaningful activities especially when students are on holidays. This has so far helped in dealing with drugs and substance abuse. Fellowship has become part of this programme beginning with church services before proceeding to the field for sports in various disciplines.
KAYO PEACE CARAVAN
This was a programme is continuous to after elections. Preaching of peace across Siaya County has become a responsibility to this department because the youth are majorly involved in street demonstrations.
The major objective for this programme was to encourage youth to desist from any kind of violence during this electioneering period. It was also meant to influence the youths to vote responsibly.
We will continue with this programme for cohesion as the country is currently faced with high political temperatures. Let us all preach Peace, Love and Unity to have a better Kenya.
Visits to schools has also been in top gear which has seen improved pastoral visitation in the Anglican sponsored schools.
Discipleship classes has promoted spiritual growth in schools which has encouraged enrollment to the Anglican Student Fellowship.
The Rev’d Willis Otieno Atoyo officially has takes over as the Diocesesan Youth Organizer from the Rev’d Kennedy Ochieng’.
Mr. John Calvin Olang’o takes over as the Diocesan Chairman from Mr. George Ng’uono Bita.
Ms. Rhoda Amolo takes over as Secretary.
